It's hard to believe it's been five years! But it has - I started Alternate Histories with a show at Wildcard on August 13, 2010. At that point I was working full-time at Wildcard (an amazing store, and one of my favorite places in the world), and had this idea to photoshop a monster into an old print of Pittsburgh that I found. My boss liked the idea and asked me to do a whole show of these pieces!
Now it's five years later, and I've created over 300 pieces, dozens of greeting cards, and traveled around the world showing and selling my crazy artwork. I even published a book, for god's sake! I've also been fortunate to meet a lot of fans and even more fortunate to make a living selling this crazy stuff to you wonderful people, and for that I am eternally grateful.
So to celebrate here in Pittsburgh, I'm throwing a party. And also finishing up something I've been working on for a long time, having one print for every state in the union. Those will debut online later this summer, but if you're in the Pittsburgh area, I hope you'll come by to my 5 Years, 50 States Pop-Up Art Show on Friday, August 28, from 4-8pm!
I'm throwing it at East End Brewing, my favorite local brewery. There's be birthday cake, beer, tacos from La Palapa food truck, and my 50 states prints, 14 of them brand-new and showing for the first-time ever. Plus the first 50 people there get a FREE SURPRISE GIFT!
Thanks again for supporting me and my business, you nutjobs. I love you all.
