Print comes with this description: "As early as the 1870s, Los Angeles was a sleepy farming village with a population of just over 5,000. But by 1900 the city head count had swollen to over 100,000 and with the growth of big business came class consciousness and rebellion. The first decade of the 20th century was a tumultuous one. In 1907 the American Federation of Labor began to challenge existing anti-Union laws; In 1909 the city placed a ban on public speech to prevent organizers from being heard; later in 1909, a splinter group of anarchists summoned and then released the Demon Dragon Fafner (also known as the “Leviathan of Los Angeles” or “El Monstruo Magnifico”) in the downtown area to strike fear into the hearts of the industrialists. It was a heady time."
