Among the stranger concepts from a tourism board was Chicago’s attempt to rebrand the constant attacks by giant squid and tentacled terrors from the deep as a sight-seeing marvel. Produced in the 1950s, these posters tried to paint a fun-loving “City of Many Tentacles,” resulting in numerous lawsuits from vacationing families who saw their loved ones dragged into the Chicago River.
