The Savage Creature of the Scioto River in Columbus

This elegant 11 x 17 inch print serves two purposes; useful both as a handy map reference and as a guide to the great riverbed beast of the Scioto!

Comes with this description:
This exquisite hand-drawn map of Columbus, Ohio dates from 1872, and shows a great city in full growth and expansion. The key points out with pride the US Arsenal, Asylums (now commonly referred to as hospitals), City Hall, and the numerous churches that were the mark of an engaged and enlightened populace. Not escaping the engraver’s hand, however, is a view of the Scioto River Creature, who menaced commerce along the river for decades.
