Alternate Histories is Hiring!
I’m looking to add someone to the staff of one (me!) here at the Alternate Histories Studio. This is a part-time contract position, up to 20 hours a week, not currently eligible for benefits, pay starting at $15 an hour. Position involves:
- A lot of packaging greeting cards, prints, etc. It’s repetitive but something you can do while watching TV or listening to music & podcasts on headphones.
- Running the retail storefront on Saturdays (stocking inventory, running checkout and handling cash and closeout, dealing with questions from customers)
- Packaging online orders to be shipped.
- Help with social media and marketing.
- Assisting with special events at Studio.
- Organizing and light cleaning at the Studio.
The majority of work will be done in the Alternate Histories Studio at 517 Greenfield Ave (accessible via the 58 bus). Staffer must be open to wearing a mask during retail hours and other times in the studio, to provide for public safety. Masks will be provided.
Retail experience preferred but not required. Generally flexible scheduling between 9am-6pm, although employee must be able to work 12-5pm most Saturdays. Must be able to lift 40 pound boxes. Knowledge of social media is great; familiarity with SEO techniques would be fantastic. Artists and small business owners welcome, with opportunity to use some Alternate Histories resources (shipping supplies, storage, printing, etc) for your own work.
