Comes with this description: This fine birds-eye view of Cleveland, Ohio in 1877 shows a prosperous city on the grow at the end of the 19th century. The map also features an appearance by the enormous sea serpent in the lake known as the “Eerie Beast.” The creature (or possibly creatures, as multiple sightings have been reported) was so omnipresent in the waters that locals took to calling the body of water “The Eerie Beast’s Lake.” Cartographers would later shorten the name for simplicity’s sake.
