National Parks Service: The Grand Canyon

The only way to improve on the epic majesty of Arizona's Grand Canyon would be to add...flying saucers! This 11 x 17 print does just that - comes with this description:

Ever since its creation as a Forest Reserve in 1893 and later as a National Park in 1919, the Grand Canyon has captured the imagination of the US populace. Yet despite being one of the most popular tourist destinations in the country, the National Parks Service was determined to make this grandest of canyons into a permanent interstellar attraction. This poster was commissioned to drive alien traffic to the site, although the program backfired as visiting Martians humorously and unfavorably compared the Arizona landmark to their own enormous Valles Marineris. This campaign was quickly stopped and replaced with the more popular “Martians Go Home (And Stop Making Fun of the Size of Our Canyon)” advertisements.
