Round 13: Godzilla vs Flying Saucers

Posted on March 22, 2017 by Matthew Buchholz | 0 Comments

Godzilla of 1954 vs Flying Saucers from "Earth vs the Flying Saucers" (1956)! A struggle for the ages!

  • GODZILLA: King of all Monsters! Godzilla is the original Kaiju, and has never faced Gamera before onscreen. Scales and heights vary but Godzilla is the larger of the two. Weaknesses: Few, although Godzilla has been bested by physically superior opponents before.
  • FLYING SAUCERS: Protected by an almost impenetrable force field, the Flying Saucers nearly destroyed Washington DC. The ships also posses highly powerful death rays that destroy entire buildings and are run by highly advanced aliens. Weaknesses: if their force field is breached, they aliens controlling the ships are frail and easily killed.

Round 12: Ro-Man vs Torgo

To Decide the Winner of the Wildcard Division: Ro-Man vs Torgo!

A nightmarish alien conqueror vs the Devil's henchman!

Quick note: I'm changing the voting so you have to submit your name and email to vote. Sorry, but I got a lot of suspicious votes on the last round. I will not use your email to contact you or sell it!

  • RO-MAN: Representative from a highly advanced race sent to Earth to eliminate mankind. His superior, bubble-based technology allows him to destroy all mankind's technology, and crush enemies with his strength. Weaknesses: The love of a human woman, and the fishbowl falling off his head.
  • TORGO: A hellish half satyr who seemingly works for the devil himself, Torgo is a creature of the darkness, creeping (slowly) through the desert to attack his prey. Can you stand the terror of his large thighs? Weaknesses: can be pushed over, the ickiness factor.

Congrats to the Wildcard winner, TORGO!

Round 11: Flying saucers vs The Thing

Posted on March 20, 2017 by Matthew Buchholz | 0 Comments

Classic Atomic Age Aliens vs Cold War Paranoia!

  • THE THING: An unknown organism from outer space with the ability to assimilate and take on the forms of other creatures, human and non-human. The host organism can survive on the cellular level in extreme cold and kills a host before taking over its likeness. Weaknesses: Extremely few. Dislikes fire.

Congrats to the winner, Flying Saucers!

To Decide the Winner of the Undead Division: NOSFERATU vs ZOMBIES

The German Silent Horror vs the Pride of Pittsburgh Terror! Who will win?!

NOSFERATU: aka Count Orlock, he has the ability to change shapes and take on the form of rats. Strong, cunning, and able to control men's minds, he drinks blood to survive. Weaknesses: Sunlight!

ZOMBIES: A strange radiation has turned normal humans into these relentless, animalistic killing machines. A bite from them will also turn the bitten into a zombie as well. Zombies will keep coming and can only be stopped by a shot or axe to the head, and can survive in any climate or time of day. Weaknesses: Zombies barely think (at least not in this early incarnation) and subsist only on their desire to feed.

Update: Congrats to NOSFERATU!

To Decide the Winner of the Giant Monster Division: GODZILLA vs GAMERA!

The World's Greatest Giant Monster vs His Slightly Goofy Upstart! Both breath fire, both survive underwater! Who will win?

GODZILLA: King of all Monsters! Godzilla is the original Kaiju, and has never faced Gamera before onscreen. Scales and heights vary but Godzilla is the larger of the two. Weaknesses: Few, although Godzilla has been bested by physically superior opponents before.

GAMERA: The upstart who began life as a Godzilla knock-off but turned into a friend to all children. Gamera matches Godzilla's firepower and ability to survive underwater, but also adds in the power of flight and his impenetrable shell. Weaknesses: Few. Gamera is rarely beaten.

UPDATE: Congrats to Winner in a Landslide, GODZILLA!

From the Wildcard Division: TORG from "Santa Claus Conquers the Martians" (1964) vs TORGO from "Manos the Hands of Fate" (1966)

A killer robot vs the devil's right hand! Who will win?

  • TORG: A merciless robot known for his strength and ability to pick up not just one, but two children at once, Torg was assembled on Mars from parts unknown. Weaknesses: Santa Claus, and being told what to do.
  • TORGO: A hellish half satyr who seemingly works for the devil himself, Torgo is a creature of the darkness, creeping (slowly) through the desert to attack his prey. Can you stand the terror of his large thighs? Weaknesses: can be pushed over, the ickiness factor.

UPDATE: Congrats to TORGO!
